Say Goodbye to to Thursday Night

Say Goodbye to to Thursday Night

What are you doing Thursday night?

This question came up many times through the summer months and my response was always the same. “I’m busy.” Then I had to deal with my friends as they rolled their eyes and asked “Are you racing again?”

When there is such a cool race riding distance from where you live why would anyone skip on this opportunity? Rockleigh crit one of the flowiest crit courses I have ever been on. It is just fun. Riding there and back is a solid 75 miles including the race. How can you beat a weekday training night like that?

There are two races each night: CAT 1/2/3 and 4/5

Unfortunately, the second series of the season recently came to an end. We were a small group: as always Ted was present, and for the first time ever Robert made a showing.

I wanted to finish strong, but it is all about position here. When the rider in front of you soft pedals even for a pedal stroke you get swarmed by 20 riders. That’s what happened on the last lap and I couldn't recover from it. Ted ended up finishing top ten which was the best result for the team.

Ted is all smiles after the race.

Thank you to everyone putting this race series and all the racers who come out every Thursday. It is definitely a special event with a special group of people.

So, I’m not sure, what I’m doing Thursday night rest of the summer.

Favorite part of the Rockleigh crit is the sunset over George Washington bridge on the way home.
