TBD's Summer Newsletter: Hot weather, even hotter racing
Ah, summer. The days are long, there are endless things to do in NYC, and yet we’re setting our alarms for 3:45 am to race. What a bunch of interesting and wonderful humans! If you’ve been out riding, racing, and otherwise enjoying, here are a few articles from the Journal you shouldn’t miss!
We’re so lucky to have Daghan on the squad. Not only is he very good at bikes, he’s an outstanding photographer (award winning I hear!), a talented designer, and has the energy of a three year old who’s been given an espresso.
Check out his terrific pictures from one of our favorite classic Central Park races, the Dave Jordan Classic.
Earlier this year we announced the To Be Developed (TBD) Cycling Grant Program focused on growing grassroots bike racing on the East Coast, particularly at the youth/junior level. Get in touch with us to buy one of these excellent Italian bottles! The writer of this newsletter is storing them in her basement… she might even deal on price but they’re for a great cause, so like…. don’t be a jerk.
I remember when I first got a bike - a steel Serotta that had a triple chainring in the front. I was in love with that bike. But I had no clue what I was doing, where to go, who to ride with, or how to not embarrass myself falling over trying to get out of my pedals. The blog didn’t exist to educate me! I had a running blog!
Luckily we’ve written an informative and, because we’re TBD, it’s accompanied with gorgeous pictures from some lovely rides we’ve taken together.
If you do have an interest in joining a group ride, keep an eye on the blog for more of our community rides in August and September. We’ve really enjoyed the first few!
In a bit of a throwback to a chilly morning in March, Lisa reports on her first race of the year, on her gorgeous new Factor. As Lisa herself mentions, it’s partly a race report, and partly a review of her new bike… her first brand new bike in years.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this roundup of some of our favorite content so far this year. I hear cross practice happened today, so we’re looking forward to sharing some great cross stories, pictures, and perhaps some hangs this fall.
Barb is the team manager for TBD-Colorado. She loves cyclocross, gravel and mountain biking and doesn’t mind a road race every now and again. She also enjoys adventures with her Golden Retriever, the Colorado branch mascot.
