Skiing with Castelli Cycling Apparel

As a dedicated cyclist, I've always been impressed by Castelli's commitment to quality and performance. But what I love even more is their versatility. For years, I've secretly been using their cycling gear on the slopes, putting it through the ringer on ski trips across the country including Sugarbush, Aspen, Alta, and Jackson Hole. Here's my breakdown of the Castelli gems I take to the slopes:

This skullcap is a game-changer for cold-weather skiing. The merino wool blend is luxuriously soft and surprisingly breathable, providing exceptional warmth without the dreaded overheating or itchiness. The seamless design fits comfortably under ski helmets. It's become my go-to for the coldest days, whether shredding fresh powder or carving groomers.

This neck warmer is the perfect balance of warmth and breathability for whiteout, windy, and freezing ski days. It provides impressive warmth, thanks to the fleecy Thermofleece lining. I love to pull this up over my face to protect the cheeks and nose as the lift crests the top of the peak or when it’s really snowing.

This minimalist neck warmer is a great alternative to the fleece lined Pro Thermal Head Thingy. It's barely there, yet it manages to protect my face from wind chill. It's become my every ski-day essential during spring skiing or on warmer days.

These gloves are the real MVPs. The water-resistant RoS material keeps my hands surprisingly dry, even through melty snow and the occasional tumble. The light gel padding offers just the right amount of impact protection, and the touchscreen compatibility is a game-changer for mid-run phone adjustments. I use these gloves on warmer days or during the spring ski season when mittens would be overkill.

This base layer is like a warm hug for my torso. The seamless construction eliminates any chafing, and the merino wool blend keeps me comfortable all day long, even during sweaty bump runs and chilly chairlift rides. It's so versatile, I wear it all ski season as my primary base layer.

Concluding Thoughts

I'm beyond impressed with how Castelli's cycling gear has translated to the slopes. Their commitment to quality and performance shines through in every piece, making them reliable and versatile companions for any adventure, regardless of the season or sport. So next time you're packing for your ski trip, don't forget to check your cycling drawer – you might be surprised at what hidden gems you find!
