Team Factor Ostro VAMs rolling out of the ACME Studio and onto the Streets
There are few better feelings than new bike day. Thanks to the special relationship we have with ACME Bicycle, the entire To Be Determined squad had the opportunity to get geared up for 2024 with the Factor OSTRO VAM - we’ll have thirteen TBD riders rolling on Factor bikes for the coming season.
A few weeks ago, we got together at the ACME studio to get a preview of our 2024 team bikes. Since then, our friends at ACME have been coordinating logistics and wrenching away at the Brooklyn studio getting bikes ready for everyone. This past weekend, after the first Prospect Park race of the year, the first of the baker’s dozen rolled out of the studio and on to the streets.
Team rider and self-declared soigneur James has also been lending his time to help get folks fitted and the bikes out the door.
The Factor OSTRO VAM is a well-rounded road bike frame with ample tire clearance and cleverly internally routed cables for disc brakes. Paired with Black Inc one-piece handlebar and stem and Black Inc FORTY FIVE wheels, the OSTRO is one slippery bike. Matt has been riding and racing his Factor OSTRO VAM for about a year, but we’re excited to have a much larger fleet of VAM’s in action in NYC.
Most TBD team members decided to build their OSTROs up with SRAM components thanks to fast-tracked logistics from our local SRAM rep. The OSTRO is a wireless-only frame but we would have chosen the new RED and Force AXS groups due to their ease of setup and vastly improved reliability.
Rainbow details and waxed chains have been popular finishing kit for the team bikes. Speaking of which, stay tuned to the Journal for some upcoming posts with thoughts on chain waxing - from both sides of the debate.
Be sure to check out our friends at ACME, our friends at Factor, our friends at SRAM, and the full gallery below. We’ll have more on these bikes in the coming weeks and months once we have the opportunity to put them through their paces.
