2021 Partner Roll Call: Metropolitan Dental Care
The To Be Determined team is stoked to announce that Metropolitan Dental Care has renewed their support for the 2021 season.
After joining the TBD family 2019, Metropolitan Dental Care is continuing their support as title level partner for the Women’s squad and a secondary sponsor for the Men’s team. We are very excited to continue working with Metropolitan Dental Care (“MDC”) and lead dentist, Dr. Nicole Mermet!
Now, some of you may be thinking - “A dentist?! Who the heck is going to the dentist in the time of COVID?!” It’s a good question, and the answer is - we are! And you should too! Regular dental cleanings, along with daily flossing and brushing are a part of a podium-finish oral hygiene routine. And, Dr. Mermet and the team at MDC are taking extra steps to ensure everyone’s safety during COVID.
MDC is abreast of infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). By monitoring the actions of these agencies, MDC remains up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued. In addition, the MDC team is taking the following steps:
The MDC team will communicate with you before your appointment to ask some screening questions. You’ll be asked those same questions again when you are in the office.
In addition to the screening questionnaire, they will take your temperature prior to the appointment.
You will need to have your nose and mouth covered to enter the lobby to our building and use the elevator.
MDC has doubled the suction protocol during dental cleanings to minimize aerosols.
Almost everyone on the MDC staff has been vaccinated for COVID-19.
The office provides hand sanitizer they ask you to use when you enter the office. You will also find some in the reception area and other places in the office for you to use as needed.
Appointments are managed to allow for social distancing between patients in the common areas and to allow CDC-regulated breaks for the air to be cleaned between patients.
The MDC team is building in extra time between patients to reduce waiting times, as well as to reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.
The MDC team asks that you wear your mask at all times unless you are in treatment.
In addition to their normal PPE (personal protective equipment), MDC dental providers wear face shields and disposable gowns.
There is increased barrier protection at the front desk.
MDC has medical-grade CDC-recommended additional air filtration units in every room of the office to constantly clean the air. These filters capture 99.97% of particles down to a size of 0.1 micron, removing any potential contagion that could be in the air.
If you have any other concerns, reach out! All of us are up-to-date on our dental cleanings, and we’d be happy to share our experiences getting our teeth cleaned at MDC in the time of COVID. We also love an opportunity to talk about how much we love Dr. Mermet!
