TBD Race Calendar: September 2019
After plenty of #crossiscoming hashtags (92,000 and counting!), cyclocross season has finally arrived. But that doesn’t mean that road is dead by any means, rather the road calendar is dwindling over the next few weeks as the focus shifts to cross. Without any further ado, a look at some of the big races featured on the TBD Race Calendar in September:
On the road side things are definitely winding down, but the Merrick Bicycles Criterium on Long Island does offer a good chance for a few more weekends of racing before road season is officially over. In addition there is the Thompson Bucks County Classic on Sunday September 8th and the New Haven Grand prix on Friday September 13th.
For those shifting gears straight to cyclocross there is Carptenter Cross and Whirlybird ‘Cross on the first full weekend of the month. We haven’t been to Carpenter, but we are fans of Whirlybird, which last featured on the journal back for the 2017 edition of the race.
Weekend number two is a good one with Nittany Lion Cross in Pennsylvania. We made our pitch to register for the race a few weeks ago, but if you remain unconvinced we encourage you to dig into the TBD Journal Archives for a look at all of the fun that has been had at recent editions of this early season classic.
For weekend three, September 21 and 22, features two one day races to choose from: Town Hall Cross and Sunday’s Bubblecross. We’re particular fans of the latter and should be out at this year’s race - check out our 2016 Bubblecross race report for a sense of what to expect.
The last weekend of the month is fairly quiet - with KMC Cyclo-Cross Festival moving back to late November there are just a few more grassroots oriented events in Lucky Charm Cross and Cooper River Cross.
As always head over to the TBD Race Calendar for additional detail on these events.
