The Infamous Night Ride
Many years ago there was an (in)famous standing night ride in Central Park where the 'peloton' could swell up to sixty or more riders including some of the city's fastest racers.
Eventually however NYPD and Parks became concerned about the obvious safety implications, particularly during the warmer months of the year, and threatened to pull CRCA's race permits if any accidents happened at the night ride. As a result the ride tapered off shortly thereafter though there are some relics of that era, including this video that we recently came across:
