In addition to training and racing throughout the year, each year Team Health Warrior p/b RK&O commits to supporting an official charity. For 2015, we are pleased to announce that the Team will be returning to the Tour of the Litchfield Hills for the fourth consecutive year. The Tour of Litchfield Hills is a charity ride beginning in Torrington, CT and winding through scenic Litchfield County. The event offers the option to ride 12, 30, 50, 75, or 100 miles. The 50 mile ride was named the Best Ride in Connecticut by Bicycle Magazine. The beneficiary of the Tour is the Center for Cancer Care Fund which provides support to cancer patients and their families in the northwest corner of Connecticut. The Fund lesses the financial burden for many patients and families undergoing treatment in Northwestern Connecticut. Additionally, the Fund supports local cancer education and prevention programs. http://www.charlottehungerford.org/donate/center-for-cancer-care-fund/

In the past three years, Team Health Warrior has raised over $24,000 and, in doing so, has been awarded the Mayor’s Cup for most funds raised by a team. Charlie Bird has been honored to read the ride’s traditional opening prayer for the 75 mile ride and 100 mile ride in 2012 and 2013 and has been asked to do so once again in 2015. This year we have set an aggressive fundraising goal of $10,000.

In an attempt to reach our goal, this year we would once again like to extend an invitation to the cycling community to become a Health Warrior team member for the weekend, fundraise under our name, and join us at the Tour. All team members will be invited to the front of the ride to start with the team and will have full access to our tent before and after the event. You can sign up on BikeReg and denote your team as "CRCA/Health Warrior p/b RK&O" – https://www.bikereg.com/tour-of-the-litchfield-hills
