Tour of Litchfield Hills: Team Charity

To Be Determined is proud to announce a team for the Tour of Litchfield Hills on August 5, 2012. The Tour of the Litchfield Hills is a charity ride offering 12, 30, 50, 75, and 100 mile bike routes as well as a 2.4, 4.2, and 8 mile walking options. The Tour enables riders/walkers of all levels to enjoy an amazing day on some of the most beautiful roads in the country. Last year the Tour was able to raise over $75,000. The Tour's mission is as follows:

The mission of the tour is to bring together community resources with the common goal of raising funds to support the care, treatment, education and prevention of cancer for residents living, working, or receiving treatment for cancer in Northwest Connecticut

To Be Determined has chosen this event because rider Charlie Bird (Sharon, CT) was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Disease in June of 2001. He was treated in Northwest Connecticut as well as at Yale New Haven Hospital.

The treatment centers in Northwest Connecticut were my home for 14 months, and the local nurses and doctors were my extended family. There was something very special about being treated in a converted house instead of a massive impersonal hospital. You become friends with your doctors and nurses. One of my oncology nurses still sends me a birthday card. I have moved 5 times since but the card always arrives. I hope everyone dealing with the stresses of being sick could have such comfortable and caring environment for treatment. Supporting the mission of the Tour of Litchfield Hills is personal, and I'm thrilled to have enlisted Team Sixcycle-RK&O in this effort. -Charlie Bird

In the following weeks, we will be announcing the formation of our official Tour of the Litchfield Hills team and an invitation for anyone to fund raise and ride with us. For additional information please see the Tour of the Litchfield Hills website or email Charlie directly.
